REGULAR ACTIVITIES

1. DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY GRANDROUNDS (Friday, 8-10am)-USTH

This is an activity of the Department of Surgery, held every Friday at 8-10 am.  In this conference, an interesting case which may include a diagnostic and/or therapeutic dilemma, or new evidences for the management is presented.

2. SUBSPECIALTY AUDIT (Friday, 7-8am)- USTH

This is also an activity of the Department of Surgery every Friday at 7-8am.  In this conference, there will be a rundown of all cases from different subspecialties that were operated on for the week. There are no preselected cases to discuss. Any consultant from the Department can choose any case of his/her interest.

3. SUBSPECIALTY AUDIT AND GRANDROUDS (Friday, 2-5pm)- CGHMC

This is an activity of the Department of Surgery at the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center held every Friday at 2-5pm. In this conference, a rundown of operations during the past month is done and any of these cases may be selected for discussion. There is no pre-selected case to be discussed and the consultant staff present are free to choose any case to be discussed.

4. UROLOGY CONFERENCE TOPICS/ PREOP/POST OP CONFERENCES (Tuesday, 2-4pm)

This is a weekly activity of the Section of Urology.  We start with an interesting urologic case, presented by the junior intern. The rest of the discussion is carried out by the resident in charge.  Urology residents including those rotating in the General Surgery service are expected to be knowledgeable on recent evidence based literatures and facts on the management of these cases.  Other specialty referrals such as radiology, pathology, oncology, nephrology, endocrinology, and pediatrics are also invited. There is an assigned resident to present a journal which will be critically appraised by anyone. This will be followed by preoperative and postoperative conferences wherein cases for the week will be discussed.

5. MONTHLY AUDIT –CGHMC

The section holds a monthly audit and administrative meeting every 1st Tuesday of the month. The consultants may pick any case of his interest to be discussed by the group. Morbidity and Mortality cases are also included in this meeting. The consultant staff also discusses different issues and agenda involving the section.

7. EJUVAS Meetings

These are quarterly meetings attended by consultants and trainees of EAMMC, JRMMC, USTH, VMMC, AFPMC and SLMC, in line with the continuing medical education programs of each institution. Each institution takes turns in hosting the activity and discussing a wide variety of topics pertaining to Urology. This activity was primarily established to supplement the training of Residents and help them prepare for the in service exams.
